Paquebots. 1902-2005 Covers and cards with various Paquebots, the majority mounted in an F.G Warwick album, useful earlier items noted from Cardiff, Greenock and Plymouth, most however post WW2, many philatelic. (120).

London. 1845 Entire letter from Lynn to London posted unpaid and charged 2d, a boxed "PACKET LETTER" (Rob. P4) applied in error and obliterated by the London numeral "5" in diamond and horizontal oval of bars, datestamps of Lynn and London. An extraordinary error, the only Packet Letter applied in error to an inland letter we have recorded, although a couple of similar Ship Letter errors are known (see lot above). Photo on Page 31.

1865-96 Stamped covers from the USA (5) including 1865 cover from Detroit bearing a fine 24c grey, 1874 cover with 6c pink pair and 1880 cover with 1c + 3c + 6c, or covers from G.B to the USA (6), various surface printed issues, also an 1895 postcard franked 1d with a pair of US 3c postage dues applied. (12).

1814 Printed certificate from Fort Monckton, certifying that Daniel Propert is serving as a Private in Captain Roch£s Company of the Royal Cardigan Regt. of Militia, being a substitute for David Edwards, balloted man for the parish of Llandewibrevy, and has served for over 11 years. Headed from Private Propert and countersigned, sent from Gosport to Deal prepaid at the 1d soldiers rate.

1848-52 Entires and a cover (part flap missing) from Portsmouth franked 1d, the first with black "NAVY POST OFFICE" (38x4mm) on the front, the others backstamped with similarly worded undated circle or straight line handstamp (39x3mm) in green. (3).

1864-1950 Covers and cards including 1937 KGVI Coronation F.D.C tied by violet Hampton Court Camp rubber c.d.s with a further strike on the registration label; other camp cancels (22); 1915 parcel address label with London Official Paid c.d.s, violet oval "CONCENTRATION CAMP / ALTON ABBEY / HANTS / ALIEN SEAMEN" and a Post Free P.C Prisoners of War cachet; WW2 F.P.Os, etc. (45).

1873-74 Officers letters to Boston, Lincolnshire, the first bearing 6d pale buff pair each cancelled "466" at Liverpool with a red "PAID / LIVERPOOL / BR. PACKET" c.d.s on the front; the second with a single 6d pale buff cancelled in manuscript with a "6d" charge, the stamps further cancelled "466", backstamped with a "LIVERPOOL / BR. PACKET" c.d.s in black. Opening tears, still an unusual pair, possibly from West Africa. (2).

1897-1914 Covers and cards (20) and pieces (10) with Field Post Office datestamps from named camps, covers include double ring datestamps of Aldershot (1897), Bulford Camp (1900 and 1902), West Down Camp (1899 and 1900), Salisbury (1898) and single ring c.d.s of Wareham (1898). (30).

1854 Cover from Paris franked 20c (four margins) to Lieut J.G Harkness, 55th Regiment, Armee Anglaise, Turkey" with arrival backstamps "ARMEE D£ORIENT / BAU C" and "ARMEE D£ORIENT / QUART GAL", the cover turned and reposted back to England charged 3d, backstamped "POST OFFICE / BRITISH ARMY" c.d.s, very unusual.

1855 Cover to England bearing a 1d red strip of three (the right stamp with faults) each cancelled by a superb "OXO" obliterator, charged 1d upon redirection from Liskeard to Torpoint, a little edge staining. The enclosed letter written on the Alma Steam Ship off Stamboul.
