1840 (May 27) 1d Lettersheet stereo A21 written from Stonehouse to Penryn, cancelled by a red Maltese Cross with a second strike unusually in the upper right corner, backstamped with black "C" and a red Plymouth datestamp. Central vertical fold, otherwise fine, an attractive and unusual May use. Photo on Page 36.

1844 (Jan 6) 1d Lettersheet stereo A219 containing an advertisement for "Samuel Hanson & Son, Importers of Foreign Fruits, Oranges, Lemons, Nuts, Raisins &c" (MA4356), posted from London to Leith with a superb No. 3 in Maltese Cross applied to the right of Britannia. 1802-47 Entire letters and covers all with Penny Post receiving house handstamps including circular framed Bristol "7/PP/P", boxed types from Birmingham and Manchester, etc. (16).

1845 Entires to Yeovil bearing 1d reds all with a "CROSS" undated circle on the front, three showing No. 7, No. 9 or No.10 handstamps with the stamp cancelled "864" numeral of Wells, the other with the No. 7 handstamp and the stamp cancelled by "871" numeral of Weston Super Mare, a very unusual group. Advertising Cover. 1896 Large cover (266x197mm) sent at the 1/2d unsealed printed matter rate from London to Brighton, the cover with a superb advert printed in blue and gold by Waterlow & Sons Ltd for "A system as good as gold, Established 1868 by Geo. S. Smith & Co", featuring a postman carrying a mail sack.
