Lebanon French, letter sent from Beirut on 30/6/1871, type E cancel (fig. 43 Cedar catalog) and "Paquebot De La Mediterranee" red framed, to Lyon, where arrived on 13/7/1871. Because of the lost war against Germany, France was forced to increase postal rates which increased twice since the day after (from 1 July 1871 at 80ct). LAST DAY OF 40ct RATE to France. VERY RARE AND INTERESTING.

Lebanon French, letter sent from Beirut but embarked directly on the steamer where received the "BM" mark.
