1921 9p on 1a Carmine-rose, mint vertical pair with the error "NINE NINE" in combination with the normal surcharge (gum toning) and a piece bearing a vertical inter-panneau strip of four, the upper stamp with the "PIES PIES" error and lower stamp with the "NINE NINE" error. 1869 (Sep 2) Cover from Edinburgh to India, water damaged with the stamps washed off, the reverse bearing the explanatory label "Recovered from wreck of the £Carnatic£", tied by arrival datestamps of Bombay (Nov 13), Travelling Post Office N.W.P and Umballa. The P.&O. "Carnatic" was wrecked off Shadwan Island on September 13th with the loss of 30 lives; some mailbags were recovered by divers on October 24th. Photo on Page 145.

Bundi. 1896 India 1/2a postal stationery cover to Bombay cancelled "BUNDI" c.d.s, the reverse bearing Bundi 1/2a slate-grey (S.G. 2) tied by a native datestamp with Colaba arrival c.d.s alongside, very fine.

Fao. 1879 Piece bearing India 1865 1a (2) and 1878 4a cancelled in manuscript "Fao, Turkish Arabia, April 14 1879", further cancelled by two Karachi duplexs (April 24), very scarce and unusual. Fao is located in Southern Iraq, at the point where the Shatt-Al-Arab meets the Persian Gulf. Photo on Page 183.

Fao. 1879 Piece bearing India 1865 2a orange and 1878 4a cancelled in manuscript "Fao, Turkish Arabia, March 23 79" further cancelled by a Karachi duplex (April 3). Also a 1a with manuscript "Fao" cancel and three other stamps with partial Turkish Arabia manuscript cancels, presumably also Fao, all also cancelled at Karachi, all on small pieces.
