1939 (May) cover Melbourne to Germany paying airmail to Italy with 3d blue x3 & 2d red (paying 11d postcard rate). Fine boxed 'RETURNED [FOR] ADDITIONAL POSTAGE/SHORT-PAID "1/4D"/POSTAL DEPARTMENT/COM'LTH OF AUSTRALIA' on face. The under-payment was 10d, so we are not sure why the charge of 1/4d (16d) was applied. The 1/4d stamp has been removed. Plus three air covers to Europe in the 1948-51 period. (4)More Scans

1942 (Jan 23) National Bank of Australasia (Sydney) bank cover with 3½d on 3d tied by Sydney datestamp, Sydney censor tape & handstamp, superb strike of two-line 'NOT TRANSMISSABLE/SERVICE SUSPENDED' handstamp in violet, 'RETURN TO/SENDER' Pointing Finger handstamp in red, on reverse Dead Letter Office/Sydney datestamp in red.

1951 (May 3) underpaid incoming commercial airmail cover from Iran with 50d & 10r bicolour pictorials tied by Abadan datestamp, taxed with 1/- & 5d Dues added, Sydney backstamp. Scarce origin and most attractive.

1958 (Mar 27) large cover (25½x21½mm) bearing War Memorial 5½d tied by 'HOBART' cds, alongside boxed 'CLOSED AGAINST INSPECTION' and 'EXCEEDS (mss) '3' OZ./TAXED (mss) 1/- & initials' with 1/' Due cancelled by straight line rubber stamp. Faults.

1966 (Oct 18) roughly opened large long registered OHMS envelope of the Office of Titles in Melbourne with 'VG' perfin £sd 2/- Flannel Flower for 20c registration and 4c QEII for printed matter rate, to Manangatang. A bit battered, scarce mixed pre-decimal/decimal franking.

1966-68 pre-decimal/decimal combination covers with 5d+1c (3), 4c Envelope uprated 5d+1c, & 5d+3c all used locally with 1968 (13 Feb) last day of validity, plus registered covers (3) two used in Melbourne, other to East Germany multi-franked. Attractive assembly. (8)More Scans
