Cork. 1772 Entire letter from Antigua to London endorsed "per the Brig Catharine & Mary, Capt French via Dublin", handstamped "SHIP" (Rob. S1) and "CORK". Backstamped in London and Dublin, charged 2/7. Minor edge wear and a vertical file fold, otherwise fine, a good example of this very scarce Ship handstamp. Photo on Page 181.

Cork. 1779 Entire letter from Montreal to London backstamped with double ring "QUEBEC" with a triangle of bars at the base and a Bishop Marks struck within, a London "1/NO" Bishop Mark alongside, the front with manuscript "Cork" above a seriffed "SHIP LRE". Unrecorded by Robertson or Tabeart but presumably applied at Cork; the London handstamp type S34 is similar but only has small serifs to the lettering, unlike this handstamp which shows...

An unusual and scarce "Packet" endorsement from Cove, which never had a Packet handstamp as it was not a regular packet port, the very occasional packet landing there after being blown of course. Crookhaven/Skibbereen. 1844 Entire letter from St. Johns, Newfoundland, to London landed at the village of Crookhaven where it was handstamped "No. 1", then taken to Skibbereen where it was handstamped "SKIBBEREEN / PENNY POST", "SKIBBEREEN / Ship Letter" (Rob. S2) and the "8" Uniform Ship Letter rate charge mark. A scarce ship letter from this tiny Irish post, which never had its own Ship Letter handstamp. Photo on Page 181.
