1847/54, Embossed 1 s. deep green, a used vertical pair with good margins all round and showing portions of adjoining stamp at bottom, small cut between at right, in a rich shade, tied to large piece together with 1 d. red-brown and 2 d. blue by complete strike of "LIVERPOOL 28/DE 1854 - 466" spoon obliterator (code I 14) in black. Very fine, scarce and most attractive.

The pilot, Capt. Scott landed safely and 9 passengers escaped, but the Lockheed L-14 plane caught fire and was destroyed, only part of the mail was salvaged.
