(El Dorado) "Indian Diggings, Jan. 12". Manuscript postmark (ELD-1910, R5) ties 3¢ dull red (11), small flaws, as forwarding postage to Mokelumne Hill on buff cover originally mailed with 10¢ green (15), four margins and strong color, tied by "Old Hickory Mo Nov 4" cds; minor edge wear and refolded at bottom, Very Fine and unusual forwarded use.

(El Dorado) Placerville, Cal./Jan 11. Manuscript postmark (Williams ELD-2910) on rebacked cover front to Illinois with matching "Paid 40" rate, repair at bottom, Fine appearance.

(Los Angeles) Lamanda, Cal. Two covers with Lamanda postmark and wonderful all over illustrated design showing the Sierra Madre Villa Hotel, one in violet & other in orange brown, both franked with 2¢ Bureau, Very Fine and attractive, a lovely pair of covers.

(Mariposa) Wawona, Cal / Jul. 1, 1892. Blue double circle postmark ties 1890 2¢ on cover to Chicago with illustrated corner card showing The Wawona Hotel with The Mountains in the background, included is a stunning matching illustrated letterhead in orange showing various Yosemite views, Very Fine.

(San Diego) San Diego Cal. Dec 18. Clear strike of cds and manuscript "12½" cent rating on 1850 folded cover addressed to the Governor of the State of California, San Jose Cal., inside 1850 docketing; file folds, Very Fine.

A very early intrastate letter from the tiny village of San Diego, population of 600, to the Governor Peter Hardeman Burnett at the State Capital in San Jose....

Bold strike of straightline postmark with magenta date and matching manuscript "40" cent rating on 1849 folded letter to New York N.Y., excellent three page commercial letter of Samuel Ward (brother of Juli Ward Howe) that commences "Our prospects have materially improved since the return of M. Mersch a wreck since the result of his trading voyage to the mines", Very Fine.
