Auction # 2630 ARGENTINA: Special Auction August 2026

RARE MULTIPLE PROOF of 1889 for wrappers of ¼, 1, 2 and 4c., the first 3 values are very similar to the wrappers issued in 1890 (GJ.FAJ-12/14), and the 4c. design is very different to the one eventually adopted (FAJ-16), very fine quality, rare!

Folded cover and part of letter dated 15/NOV/1815, mailed to Santa Fe, with the red marks "BUENOS AYRES" and "FRANCA" (GJ.BUE 4 and BUE 9) very well applied, postage paid in origin, VF!

Circa 1851, folded cover mailed to Salta with red "RENTA GRAL. DE CORREOS DE BUENOS AYRES" in double ogive, perfectly applied, also "3" rating in pen, VF quality!

Cover sent (circa 1856) to Corrientes with double oval mark "CORREO NACIONAL DEL ROSARIO" (GJ.ROS 5A) along "5" rating in pen, handsome and scarce!

Entire letter mailed to Buenos Aires on 12/OC/1819 with the red mark "SALTA" (GJ.SAL-3) perfectly applied, also "3" (Reales) rating in pen, excellent quality, a beauty perfectly preserved for over 200 years!

20/MAR/1944 Buenos Aires to New York, registered airmail cover sent via PANAGRA, bearing an attractive franking of 21.55P., censored and with arrival backstamps. It has a few creases typical of these large envelopes used for heavy correspondence, good postage, very low start!

Entire letter sent from Buenos Aires to France on 25/AP/1863 by English mail, with marks of the English office (on back) for 27/AP, transit of London, and arrival, VF quality!

Folded cover sent to B.Aires on 5/MAY/1870, franked with 5c. (GJ.38), cancelled by CHASCOMUS oval along datestamp with Maltese cross, rare!

Cover used from Buenos Aires to London in early AP/1874, the 5c. domestic rate was paid with a GJ.38 stamp cancelled by the Oficina Marítima double circle datestamp. It bears English mark on the front and an arrival backstamp of 4/MAY, very fine quality!

24/NO/1881 Buenos Aires to Paris, cover sent from "CENTRO SUD"? post office franked with 12c. (GJ.39 + 53), on back there is another datestamp of B.Aires, an octagonal mark of Frensh paquebot Gironde "PAQ. FR J Nº6", and Paris arrival of 24/DE, nice combination, very fine quality, low start!

8 Covers, postal stationery items, etc. used between 1888 and 1932, all with defects such as a stamp missing from the original franking, replaced stamps, etc. The lot includes scarce items that would be of very high value if in perfect condition (I estimate the value of the lot at US$500 or more, if in premium condition!).
