Worldwide Stamps and Postal History

1919 (Oct 1) 1 1/2d Postal stationery envelope bearing KGV 1/- pair all cancelled at Haddington, inscribed "via air service" and addressed to London, flown from Glasgow to London on the 2nd October, the first day of the emergency air service from Glasgow, which operated for six days during the national railway strike. A couple of small opening faults at upper edge, otherwise fine and a scarce commercial cover. Photo on Page 16.
